Maybelline has a new Fall 2013 Collection: On The Runway Collection. Within this collection 4 limited edition Colorsensational Lipsticks were released in 3 different shades of purple and 1 shade of hot pink. I picked up one of the lipsticks in Violet Intrigue.
Violet Intrigue is a beautiful darkened dusty plum color. It is a cream formula and applies very opaque to the lips with just 2 swipes! Some my think that purple lipstick is difficult to pull off, and I would tend to agree, however, this lipstick has a slight magenta undertone to it that makes it very wearable and on trend for Fall 2013.
I thought it would be helpful to compare Violet Intrigue to some other similar lipsticks that I had in my collection, so I pulled out a few of my favorite purples & swatched them to compare.
Left to Right- Maybelline LE Violet Intrigue, Maybelline Brazen Berry, MAC Heroine LE & MAC Strong Woman LE
As you can see, Violet Intrigue is a mix between MAC Heroine & Strong Woman. Heroine and Strong Woman are both Matte and Violet Intrigue has a satin creamy finish, but it has that bright quality of Heroine and the plum quality of Strong Woman. It's the best of the two lipsticks!
